One of the problems to overcome was pronouncing the word "Mansects" in a project aimed at kids! But there were other reasons too, reformatting the story to be about the mutants vs. humans, who hate and fear these bug-eyed monstrosities. The original story pitted the good-guy mutant Mansect Rebels against the bad-guy mutant Weevil Legion, a conflict that did not give humans (our target audience!) a stake in the outcome.
Secondly, the story cried out to be a 3D animation rather than a web comic. Needless to say, 3D animation is a great deal more complex than creating a comic and the time involved is considerable. Progress has been slow but now seemed like a good time to start posting the work completed so far.
In this incarnation, the half-human, half-insect mutants are called Weevils, and the project title, "Nightcallers", is what the people of Earth started calling them when their droning, all-night singing could be heard long before anyone had actually seen them or knew what they looked like.
